2016-08-16 · The G string is low on the tension, and I’ve heard a higher tension G would help. My sound post looks to be in a good position but may be too tight. I think the sound board may be a little thicker than it should be, but not by much, 1/4-1/2mm or so.

This is another hard one. If the violin sounds smooth under the ear it will tend to not carry well. The amount of stress applied onto the string will have a large influence on whether the sound produced is smooth or not, and the G string is especially tricky for beginners to control in my opinion.
